About Alice Abdur-Razzaaq,
PMHNP-BC
With nearly two decades of experience in mental health care, I have walked alongside people through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. My career has spanned high-acuity psychiatric units in both the U.S. and Europe, community outreach programs, and outpatient care — each setting shaping my belief that mental health treatment must be both skillful and deeply human.
I started Bold City Behavioral Health because I wanted to give people the kind of care I would want for my own family — care that isn’t rushed, where you feel heard, understood, and respected. In large systems, I often saw people reduced to a diagnosis or a chart number. Here, you are a person with a story, a voice, and goals that matter.
My approach combines evidence-based psychopharmacology with therapeutic strategies tailored to each individual’s needs. But beyond the treatment plan, my commitment is to sit with you in the difficult moments, celebrate your progress, and help you build the tools you need to move forward with confidence.
I believe mental health care works best when it’s a collaboration — between provider and client, and among the wider circle of support that may include therapists, primary care providers, case managers, and community resources. Together, we create a foundation for stability, growth, and healing.
This work is more than my profession — it’s my calling. Every day, I’m reminded that while the challenges we face may be great, the human capacity for resilience, recovery, and transformation is greater.
About Kennedy Purcey,
LCSW Intern
From an early age, Kennedy understood that life’s struggles can leave lasting marks on individuals and families. She saw firsthand how challenges, whether emotional, relational, or situational, shape the way people see themselves and interact with the world. These experiences didn’t discourage her; instead, they fueled her compassion and inspired her to become a source of support for others.
For Kennedy, choosing to become a therapist was more than a career decision. She wanted to create a space where people feel genuinely heard, respected, and encouraged to move toward healing. Her journey has taken her through diverse experiences, including work in the juvenile justice system and with trauma-affected populations, which has strengthened both her skills and her dedication to helping clients overcome adversity.
Kennedy was drawn to Bold City Behavioral Health because of its client-centered philosophy. She believes that therapy should never be one-size-fits-all, but instead a partnership built on trust, compassion, and collaboration. Being part of a practice that places clients at the center of every decision allows her to live out her values in an authentic way.
Kennedy’s style as a therapist is warm, empathetic, and down-to-earth. She integrates evidence-based talk therapies with a deep respect for each client’s unique background and strengths. With special training and experience in trauma recovery, juvenile justice, and complex emotional needs, she understands how past experiences can shape present challenges and how growth and healing are always possible.
Her sessions are designed to be safe, supportive, and empowering. She works side by side with clients to build resilience, develop coping strategies, and practice emotional regulation. Kennedy values meeting clients where they are, adapting her methods to fit their goals and pace, whether they are managing stress, processing trauma, or seeking greater self-awareness.
Above all, Kennedy believes therapy is a collaborative journey. She sees her role not as an expert dictating solutions, but as a trusted partner walking alongside her clients as they explore challenges, celebrate progress, and discover healthier, more fulfilling ways to live.
